COMPUTING ASSIGNMENT DATA SERIES

The file station.inv1 contains a listing of the 32 stations selected for this study, including the 6-digit number of the station, name of station, and latitude-longitude coordinates.

A longer file station.inventory contains the full 1221 stations that are available from the data base.

I have created 128 data files comprising

(a) monthly temperature values (suffix DT1),

(b) annual temperature values (suffix DT2),

(c) monthly precipitation values (suffix DT3),

(d) annual precipitation values (suffix DT4).

For example, station 212174 is Durham, New Hampshire; the four associated file names are 212174.DT1,212174.DT2,212174.DT3 and 212174.DT4.

All files are in SPlus notation with "NA" denoting a missing value.
